August 7, 2026 / SemiMedia / — Infineon Technologies announced that its SEMPER™ NOR Flash Memory has been qualified for ASPEED Technology’s AST2700 Baseboard Management Controller and added to the AST2700 Approved Vendor List.

SEMPER NOR Flash can serve as firmware storage for the BMC, supporting the server-management infrastructure required to maintain secure and reliable system operation.

The qualification provides hyperscalers and server OEMs with a validated, design-ready memory solution for AST2700-based systems, helping reduce design risk and simplify bill-of-materials decisions.

As artificial-intelligence, cloud and enterprise workloads expand, reliable server operation increasingly depends on management systems that function independently of the host processor.

BMCs remain active even when a server is powered off. They continuously monitor system health, manage power sequencing, support secure boot and enable remote access, secure firmware updates over the network and system recovery.

The NOR Flash connected to the BMC stores the critical management firmware required for these functions. It also supports firmware-integrity verification during each power cycle and enables recovery mechanisms.

Infineon’s SEMPER NOR Flash provides fast read performance over a standard Serial Peripheral Interface and is designed for high-endurance data center applications.

The memory integrates Cyclic Redundancy Check and Error Correcting Code functions to protect data integrity and support reliable BMC firmware storage at scale.

The AST2700 is ASPEED’s eighth-generation BMC. Manufactured using 12nm process technology, it provides enhanced management capabilities, stronger security and greater system integration than previous generations.
