August 10, 2026 / SemiMedia / — The World Semiconductor Trade Statistics organization has raised its forecast for the global semiconductor market following the release of its second-quarter 2026 data.

WSTS expects worldwide semiconductor sales to reach $1.655 trillion in 2026, representing year-over-year growth of 108% and an increase from its previous spring forecast.

The global semiconductor market generated $702 billion in revenue during the first half of 2026, up 102% from the same period last year.

Second-quarter semiconductor revenue reached $403 billion, representing year-over-year growth of 124%.

Investment in artificial-intelligence infrastructure, high-performance computing and advanced memory technologies remained the primary driver of market expansion.

Memory provided the strongest growth among major product categories. WSTS data showed that memory revenue increased 305% during the first half of 2026.

Full-year memory sales are now forecast to grow 302%, compared with the organization’s previous projection of 249%.

The logic-chip market also delivered strong growth, with first-half revenue rising 45% year over year.

WSTS raised its 2026 outlook for every major semiconductor product category except sensors.

Continued expansion of AI servers, data centers and advanced-computing systems is increasing demand for GPUs, high-bandwidth memory and advanced DRAM products.

WSTS forecasts that the global semiconductor market will reach approximately $2.14 trillion in 2027, representing growth of about 29% and setting another annual record.

The Americas and Asia-Pacific regions are expected to continue recording relatively rapid growth.
