Holtek to raise MCU prices by 10% to 20% across all product lines

August 3, 2026 / SemiMedia / — Holtek Semiconductor will raise prices across all product lines by approximately 10% to 20% in response to continuing increases in wafer foundry and semiconductor packaging costs.

The adjustment is Holtek’s first company-wide price increase since the COVID-19 pandemic. The company has begun communicating the changes to customers and distributors, with revised prices applying to recently received orders.

Holtek previously adjusted prices for selected low-margin projects in March 2026. That action was limited to individual programs, while the latest adjustment covers the company’s broader product portfolio.

The exact increase will depend on the product line and customer conditions.

Holtek said wafer-fabrication and packaging costs have continued to rise during 2026. The company absorbed part of the additional cost during the first half, but concluded that further internal absorption would place excessive pressure on gross margin.

United Microelectronics Corporation is Holtek’s principal wafer foundry partner. Related foundry price adjustments are expected to take effect progressively from the second half of 2026 into 2027.

Packaging suppliers are also raising prices as capacity tightens, with some suppliers potentially implementing their second or third adjustment of the year during the third quarter.

Holtek has included expected changes in 2027 wafer costs in its latest pricing strategy. The company wants to limit the need for another company-wide adjustment within a short period.

Management emphasized that the increase is intended to recover manufacturing costs rather than aggressively expand margins. End-market demand has not recovered evenly, and excessive semiconductor price increases could ultimately weaken demand for finished products.

Holtek currently has approximately six months of order visibility. However, the complete production cycle—from wafer starts through packaging, testing and final delivery—may now extend to between six and eight months.

As a result, newly accepted orders are already using the revised prices, but the main revenue impact is expected to emerge gradually from the first quarter of 2027.
