September 11, 2026 / SemiMedia / — Vishay Intertechnology has introduced the Vishay General Semiconductor XFD11KxxCA series of bidirectional XClampR flat-clamping transient voltage suppressors in the surface-mount DO-218AC package, with 15 devices available in commercial-grade and AEC-Q101 qualified versions.

The series provides peak pulse power capability comparable to conventional 11 kW TVS devices at 10/1000 μs while maintaining a clamping ratio close to 1.0, targeting applications that require high power density and low clamping voltage.

The XFD11KxxCA family covers stand-off voltages from 33 V to 85 V, supporting 12 V, 24 V and 48 V automotive electrical systems. Maximum clamping voltage ranges from 40.6 V to 104 V, while breakdown voltage ranges from 36.7 V to 104 V.

Compared with conventional devices in similar DO-218 packages, the new TVS series offers lower clamping voltage at the same stand-off voltage and approximately 1.6 times higher peak pulse current, reaching up to 207.1 A at 10/1000 μs. Surge current capability reaches up to 2140 A at 8/20 μs.

The devices operate from -55 °C to +175 °C and maintain stable clamping and breakdown characteristics across the temperature range. Their lower clamping voltage can also allow designers to use lower-voltage downstream MOSFETs and capacitors while reducing voltage design margins.

Target applications include ADAS, autonomous driving control units, onboard chargers, DC/DC converters, traction inverters, battery management systems, energy storage, industrial automation, server power, AI server hot-swap systems, telecom power supplies and radar power systems.

The XFD11KxxCA series is RoHS-compliant and halogen-free. Samples and production quantities are available now, with lead times of approximately 12 weeks.
