TDK launches compact noise filters for smartphones and wearables

April 14, 2026 /SemiMedia/ — TDK has introduced a new series of noise suppression filters designed for smartphones and wearable devices, aiming to reduce electromagnetic interference while maintaining audio performance.

The MAF0603GWY series measures 0.6 mm by 0.3 mm, targeting compact designs where space and signal integrity are both critical. Mass production is scheduled to begin in April.

In mobile devices, noise from audio lines can interfere with antennas and affect signal reception. Chip beads are often used to address this issue, but they can also impact audio quality.

TDK said its new filters use a low-distortion ferrite material to limit that trade-off, reducing noise while keeping changes to audio signals to a minimum.

The components are designed to provide strong attenuation in high-frequency bands, including around 5 GHz, supporting applications such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 5G. Lower resistance also helps reduce signal loss and improve dynamic range.

The filters are intended for use in smartphones, tablets and wearable devices, where higher integration continues to increase the need for more precise noise control.
