September 15, 2026 / SemiMedia / — Global semiconductor revenue surpassed $425 billion in the second quarter of 2026, reaching another all-time high as the market grew a record 31.4% quarter over quarter, according to Omdia.
The increase exceeded the previous sequential growth record of 29.2% set in the first quarter of 2026. Strong AI infrastructure demand and elevated memory pricing pushed total semiconductor revenue for the first half of the year to $752 billion.
Memory remained the largest driver of growth during the quarter, with DRAM, NAND and NOR markets all showing strong gains. Memory ICs accounted for more than half of total semiconductor revenue as demand for HBM and other high-performance memory products continued to rise alongside AI server deployments.
Growth also extended beyond memory. Revenue from non-memory semiconductors increased by more than 10% quarter over quarter, significantly above the historical second-quarter seasonal growth rate of just over 3%, indicating broader strength across the chip market.
Since Omdia began tracking the semiconductor industry in the first quarter of 2002, only 10 of 97 quarters have recorded sequential revenue growth above 10%. The four quarters beginning with the third quarter of 2025 have all delivered double-digit sequential growth.
Omdia expects the trend to continue in the third quarter of 2026, with AI computing demand and strong memory market conditions remaining the main drivers of semiconductor revenue growth.
