October 30, 2026 / SemiMedia / — Samsung Electronics said its planned 2027 high bandwidth memory supply has been fully sold at agreed target prices, as customers continue to request additional volumes. The company disclosed the status on its October 29 third quarter earnings call.
HBM4 revenue more than tripled from the previous quarter and represented about 60 percent of Samsung’s total HBM revenue in the third quarter. The shift highlights the growing contribution of its newer generation AI memory products.
Samsung’s memory business has signed multiyear supply agreements with 10 major customers and is negotiating with another 10. It aims to place 60 to 70 percent of memory production capacity under long term agreements by 2030.
The company expects DRAM supply to remain tight in 2028. Higher investment does not translate immediately into additional output because new factories and equipment take time to enter production.
In the third quarter, DRAM and NAND shipments each increased by a single digit percentage from the previous quarter, while average selling prices rose about 20 percent and nearly 10 percent, respectively. Samsung expects fourth quarter DRAM shipments to grow 15 to 20 percent and NAND shipments to increase about 15 percent.
Separately, Samsung’s foundry business plans to increase investment in South Korea and the United States and is considering additional wafer fabrication and advanced packaging capacity.
