September 19, 2023 /SemiMedia/ -- According to reports, India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology stated that Micron intends to establish several semiconductor assembly and packaging units in India. In addition to the proposed manufacturing unit, Micron is optimistic about the Indian market in the long term.

According to reports, Micron's first investment in India triggered a change in attitude among other semiconductor players, who are willing to consider India as an important part of their semiconductor assembly and manufacturing plans.

Micron's first successful investment in India will bring two major benefits. First, it will serve as a guide for other companies and investments. Second, those companies in India will see value growth and can further expand.

According to earlier reports, Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra announced in July that the company would invest US$800 million to establish a semiconductor assembly, test, marking and packaging (ATMP) unit in Sanand, Gujarat.
