According to a recent report by IHS Markit, Samsung Electronics has ranked first in 17 consecutive years in the global display driver IC (DDI) market, and ranked first in the second quarter of this year with a market share of 30%.

According to the report, sales in the global DDI market in the second quarter of this year were $1.876 billion, 11.7% higher than the same period last year and 15% higher than the previous quarter.

From the perspective of sales of major suppliers, Samsung Electronics' sales were 21.2% higher than the previous year, reaching US$560 million, ranking first in the market with 29.9% market share. Secondly, Nova Technology followed closely with a market share of 20.2%, followed by Himax ($141 million, 7.5%), Silicon Works ($140 million, 7.5%), and Sitronix Technology ($107 million, 5.7%).

Since 2002, Samsung Electronics has ranked first in the global DDI market to date. According to reports, one out of every four smartphones in the world is equipped with Samsung DDI. In particular, nearly 95% of smartphones equipped with OLED displays use Samsung DDI.

In addition, Samsung Electronics has set a goal this year and plans to win the first place in the global system semiconductor market in 2030. Therefore, Samsung is accelerating the development of cutting-edge technology for DDI.
