October 17, 2025 /SemiMedia/ — Samsung Electronics has reclaimed its position as the world’s leading memory chip maker in the third quarter of 2025, supported by a surge in DRAM and NAND flash demand, according to data from Counterpoint Research.
Samsung’s total memory sales — including DRAM and NAND — reached $19.4 billion in Q3, up 25% from the previous quarter. Counterpoint attributed this growth to rising demand for server memory and high-capacity storage used in AI and data center applications.
SK Hynix ranked second with $17.5 billion in sales, marking a 13% increase from a year earlier. Analysts noted that both companies benefited from the ongoing recovery in the memory market after a prolonged downturn.
Counterpoint expects Samsung to maintain its leadership through the fourth quarter, further strengthened by the ramp-up of its next-generation high bandwidth memory (HBM) products. The firm added that HBM adoption in AI processors will be a major growth driver for Samsung in 2026.
