March 10, 2026 /SemiMedia/ — Global semiconductor sales totaled $82.5 billion in January 2026, rising 3.7% from December and 46.1% from a year earlier, according to data released by the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA).

The industry group said the strong start to the year followed record sales in 2025, showing that demand for chips remains solid across several markets.

“After a record year for semiconductor sales in 2025, the global market continued to grow in January,” said SIA President and CEO John Neuffer. He noted that sales were higher than both the previous month and the same period last year.

Regional data showed that Asia-Pacific markets outside China and Japan recorded the fastest annual growth, with sales rising 82.4% year-on-year. Sales in China increased 47.0%, while the Americas grew 34.9% and Europe rose 26.1%.

In contrast, Japan was the only major market to report a decline, with sales down 6.2% from a year earlier.

On a month-to-month basis, most regions also reported gains. Sales increased 5.8% in China, 5.0% in other Asia-Pacific markets, 5.3% in Europe, and 1.2% in the Americas, while Japan saw a 1.7% decline from December.

Neuffer said strong demand from Asia-Pacific and China continues to support the global chip market, adding that the industry could approach $1 trillion in annual sales by 2026.
