Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has announced the release of ceramic medium-power short-wave ultraviolet (UVC) LED VLMU35CM..-280-120 for sterilization, disinfection and purification. The component is embedded with a quartz lens and is available in a small 3.5 mm x 3.5 mm x 1.2 mm surface mount package for an extremely long life.

This component is designed to replace UVC mercury lamps with an emission angle of ± 60° and a radiation power of 18 mW at 100 mA without the need for an external lens. The VLMU35CM..-280-120 uses AlGaN technology with a forward current of 150 mA, a forward voltage as low as 4 V, and a wavelength range of 270 nm to 290 nm.

LED performance is particularly suitable for water and air purification, physical surface sterilization, hospital disinfection and portable disinfection equipment. VLMU35CM..-280-120 is RoHS compliant, halogen-free, suitable for reflow soldering, the moisture sensitivity level reaches level 3 of the J-STD-020 standard.

The VLMU35CM..-280-120 is in mass production with a lead time of four weeks. For detailed product and pricing information, please contact Vishay's authorized distributors.
