Texas Instruments starts production at new 300mm fab in Texas

December 18, 2025 /SemiMedia/ — Texas Instruments has begun production at its newest 300mm semiconductor manufacturing facility in Sherman, Texas, marking a further expansion of its U.S.-based analog and embedded chip capacity.

The facility, known as SM1, was completed roughly three and a half years after construction began and will ramp output in line with customer demand. At full scale, the fab is expected to produce tens of millions of chips per day, supplying a broad range of applications including automotive electronics, industrial systems, medical devices, consumer products and data centers.

300mm manufacturing expansion strengthens U.S. analog chip capacity

Texas Instruments is one of the largest foundational semiconductor manufacturers in the United States, with a long-standing focus on analog and embedded processing devices. By expanding its 300mm manufacturing footprint, the company aims to improve cost efficiency, manufacturing consistency and long-term supply reliability.

Sherman site anchors Texas Instruments’ long-term supply strategy

The Sherman site has been designed as a multi-fab manufacturing hub, with plans for up to four connected wafer fabs depending on market conditions. Once fully developed, the site is expected to support as many as 3,000 direct jobs, in addition to employment generated across supporting industries.

The investment forms part of Texas Instruments’ broader plan to spend more than $60 billion on seven semiconductor fabs across Texas and Utah. The company operates 15 manufacturing sites globally and has emphasized internal manufacturing control as a key element of its long-term supply strategy for customers.
