Intel Begins Fab 62 Tool Installation, Targets Operations by End of 2028

October 22, 2026 / SemiMedia / — Intel said construction and equipment installation are fully underway at Fab 62 on its Ocotillo campus in Arizona, with operations expected to begin by the end of 2028.

In an October 21 update, Naga Chandrasekaran, executive vice president and chief technology and operations officer of Intel Foundry, said Fab 62 would become the campus’s sixth high-volume manufacturing facility. Nearby Fab 52 is already operational, and the additional facility will expand Intel’s manufacturing capacity in Arizona.

In Ohio, crews installed the first major structural truss for the first fab at the Ohio One site in New Albany. The milestone marks continued construction at the previously delayed project, although Intel did not announce a revised operational timetable.

The updates come as growing demand for Intel’s data center processors adds pressure to increase supply. CEO Lip-Bu Tan has emphasized matching manufacturing investment to actual demand. Equipment installation, process qualification and customer commitments will shape how quickly the new capacity becomes available.
