October 26, 2026 / SemiMedia / — Samsung Electronics has reportedly ordered additional equipment for its first fab in Taylor, Texas, supporting approximately 6,000 more 2nm wafers per month. Including earlier equipment investment and the pilot line, the facility could reach planned capacity of 20,000 wafers per month in the second half of 2027, according to ZDNet Korea.
Samsung has been investing in equipment for 10,000 wafers per month since late 2025, the report said. The latest procurement would fill the remaining space and bring the fab’s core equipment investment close to completion.
Additional tools are expected to begin arriving at the end of 2026 and could support higher shipments as early as the second half of 2027. The capacity figures describe the planned equipment build-out; stable output will depend on installation, process qualification and the production ramp.
Taylor Fab 1 is expected to begin operating by the end of 2026. Samsung has not publicly confirmed the additional equipment order or the reported capacity targets.
