Renesas Electronics issued an announcement stating that due to the local thunderstorms caused by the typhoon in Kumamoto City, the area where its Kawajiri plant was located was struck by lightning, resulting in a sudden voltage sag. Affected by this, Renesas' Kawajiri plant was temporarily shut down.

Renesas said the voltage drop time was much longer than the actual results for the past 10 years and their expectations, and about 90% of the production facilities were shut down.

At present, Renesas is restarting production equipment, some processes have resumed production, and the production capacity before the voltage sag is expected to resume before July 11.

Renesas said the amount of production lost due to the accident was equivalent to about two weeks of production.
