November 11, 2024 /SemiMedia/ — Murata has introduced the SCH1633-D01, a new Six Degrees-of-Freedom (6DoF) sensor that sets a new standard for automotive performance. Built on a micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) platform, the SCH1633-D01 offers enhanced performance, seamless system integration, and optimized costs for a range of automotive applications, including autonomous driving (AD), advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), inertial navigation, vehicle stability control, and camera or headlight alignment.

As demand for safer and more autonomous vehicles grows, there is a strong need for accurate sensors with robust safety features and high integration. The SCH1633-D01 addresses these needs, providing precise and cost-effective solutions that meet industry standards, such as the UNECE’s headlight leveling regulation.

This sensor is a compact, single-package solution optimized for zonal architecture, allowing various subsystems like GNSS integration, chassis control, and vehicle attitude sensing to use its data. It is designed to serve as the core of the vehicle’s central inertia measuring unit (IMU), delivering high-quality signals even in challenging conditions. By integrating multiple functions, the SCH1633-D01 reduces system complexity and helps cut costs.

The SCH1633-D01 features a unique 24-pin SOIC package and utilizes the SafeSPI 2.0 interface with a 20-bit data frame for high-resolution, smooth output. It also includes advanced time synchronization capabilities, making it easy to integrate with the vehicle’s overall system. The sensor’s comprehensive self-diagnostics feature over 200 monitoring signals to ensure reliable performance.

Designed for durability, the SCH1633-D01 performs reliably even under extreme temperatures. It is AEC-Q100 grade 1 qualified for consistent operation throughout its lifetime and complies with ISO26262, achieving an ASIL-B+ safety rating, with the potential to reach ASIL-D through system integration.

With the SCH1633-D01, Murata provides a high-quality, versatile sensor solution for the next generation of automotive applications, enhancing vehicle safety and performance.
