Micron will invest 3 billion US dollars for factory expansion

Micron Technology announced on the 29th that it plans to spend $3 billion over the next 12 years to expand its plant.

The funds will be used to build approximately 100,000 square feet (9,290 square meters) in the Manassas plant to build clean rooms. Micron Technology expects to create 1,100 permanent jobs for engineers and technicians once the expansion is complete.

According to Micron, the expansion plan is designed to meet the growing demand for automotive chips. The emergence of functions such as anti-collision systems and lane departure warning systems has increased the demand for computing power of the car. The reason for choosing to expand the Virginia factory is because Micron has been producing chips there for automakers for 15 years. The auto market is a strategic direction for Micron, and Micron expects that by 2021, the market will double in size to $6 billion.
