August 21, 2026 / SemiMedia / — Micron Technology has unveiled Micron Research Labs and plans to invest $10 billion in the institution over the next decade, according to a company announcement.

Headquartered at Micron’s campus in Boise, Idaho, the research center will focus on critical memory technologies, advanced memory and computing architectures, semiconductor packaging and future chip manufacturing processes.

Micron expects to begin construction of the new facility in 2027. The site is designed to accommodate hundreds of researchers, while the investment will also support university collaborations, global satellite laboratories and semiconductor ecosystem partnerships.

The $10 billion commitment is separate from Micron’s previously announced US manufacturing and research program. The company has committed more than $250 billion to domestic memory production, advanced packaging and R&D.
