Micron delays new plant investment plan

According to recent reports from the Japanese media, due to the US ban on Huawei, Micron has delayed its new plant investment plan in Hiroshima, Japan.

According to reports, Micron's DRAM factory (Fab 15) in Hiroshima, Japan uses state-of-the-art process technology. The plant's latest production facility, Building B, was also commissioned earlier this month, and plans to produce a new generation of DRAM to catch up with Samsung.

The Hiroshima factory originally belonged to Elpida, and Micron acquired the plant after acquiring Elpida in 2013. It was originally planned to start production of 1Z nm process DRAM at the plant in the middle of this year, but it is reported that the expansion of the F building of the plant has been postponed for seven months.

From the first quarter of this year, Samsung accounted for 42.7% of the DRAM market, Hynix ranked second with 29.9%, and Micron ranked third with 23%. Micron originally stated that it will invest billions of dollars in the Hiroshima plant in the next few years. However, under the influence of the trade war, its investment plan will be adjusted accordingly.
