ADI’s new transceivers bring HD video to all vehicles

Analog Devices has announced a series of transceiver products that enable high-definition video through existing unshielded twisted pair and unshielded connectors. This allows OEMs to easily upgrade standard-definition cameras to high-definition cameras and deliver the high resolution and image quality required for today's automotive camera applications. Compared to other automotive link solutions, the new ADV7990 and ADV7991 transmitters and the ADV7380 and ADV7381 receivers use ADI's Automotive Camera Bus (C2BTM) technology to significantly reduce weight, size and cost, and reduce cabling restrictions.

C2B transceivers are specifically defined and designed for automotive applications, which means that in addition to achieving outstanding visual quality on unshielded infrastructure, It also leverages on-chip EMC/EMI mitigation technology to fully comply with the industry's stringent requirements for EMC, EMI and ESD robustness.

The ADV7990/91 and ADV7380/81 transceivers have negligible latency and support uncompressed transmission. The two-way control channel uses the same cable, so there is no additional cost. These devices support 75 MHz pixel rate (75 MHz Y, 75 MHz C) "freeze frame" detection, while bidirectional control supports I2C, interrupt/status, and general purpose I/O (GPIO).

"C2B has proven to be a cost-effective solution that supports the seamless transition of mainstream low-resolution NTSC to high-definition cameras, reducing wireline cost and weight and creating tremendous value for automakers. Denso is pleased with Analog Devices Collaborate to use its C2B technology to implement scalable camera and video connectivity solutions in our vehicle product line," said Motoki Kanamori, General Manager, Advanced Hardware Development, Denso's Cockpit Systems Business Unit.
