October 21, 2025 /SemiMedia/ — KYOCERA AVX has introduced the KGP series of commercial-grade stacked multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs), designed for industrial and downhole oil and gas applications requiring high-frequency, high-performance solutions.

The KGP series delivers higher capacitance in the same mounting footprint as traditional capacitors, supporting ongoing device miniaturization, while remaining lead- and cadmium-free to meet sustainability standards. Low equivalent series resistance (ESR) and inductance (ESL) reduce noise and enhance performance, and metal lead frames ensure stability and durability under thermal and mechanical stress.

The series is offered in five EIA case sizes (1210, 1812, 1825, 2220, 2225), with two stack heights and maximum thicknesses ranging from 3.40mm to 6.95mm. Lead styles include “J” and “L,” and three dielectric options are available: C0G, X7R, and X7T. Voltage ratings range from 50V to 1,500V, capacitance from 10nF to 47µF (±10% or 20% tolerance), and operating temperatures span -55°C to +125°C.

Applications include power supplies, DC/DC converters, control circuits, high-voltage coupling, and DC blocking across industrial, renewable energy, and downhole oil and gas sectors.

Zack Kozawa, Director of MLCC Product Marketing at KYOCERA AVX, said, “The KGP series expands our proven capacitor portfolio for markets with demanding performance needs, including power supply and downhole drilling applications, while supporting miniaturization and sustainability trends.”

C0G and X7R dielectric models cover all five case sizes with full voltage and capacitance ranges, up to 220nF and 47µF, respectively. X7T models are available in three case sizes (1210, 1812, 2220) with three voltage ratings (250V, 450V, 630V) and capacitances up to 4.7µF.

All units undergo extensive testing including visual inspection, capacitance, dissipation factor, temperature coefficient, insulation resistance, dielectric strength, temperature cycling, steady-state and load humidity, high-temperature load, soldering strength, bending, vibration, and soldering heat resistance. They are RoHS compliant and packaged in quantities of 500–1,500 on tape and reel for automated placement.
