Murata launches 1W DC-DC converter with reinforced isolation for high-voltage systems

May 1, 2025 /SemiMedia/ — Murata Manufacturing has introduced the NXJ1T series, a compact 1W DC-DC converter designed to address the increasing isolation demands of high-voltage industrial, energy, and medical systems. The device provides reinforced isolation of 4.2kVDC and meets UL62368 safety requirements, making it ideal for applications such as 800V EV architectures, battery energy storage, and next-generation power infrastructure.

As systems evolve toward higher operating voltages, ensuring reliable isolation between communication and sensing circuits becomes critical. Murata’s NXJ1T series provides a robust solution in a 10.55mm × 13.70mm × 4.04mm SMD package, featuring a 5V input and 5V/200mA unregulated output, optimized for embedded and distributed power systems.

The NXJ1T’s advanced construction leverages Murata’s proprietary molding and block-coil transformer technology. This design enables higher coupling efficiency and lowers switching frequencies (500kHz–2MHz), significantly improving energy efficiency (up to ~80%) compared to common wireless power coil converters. The result is improved noise immunity, lower isolation capacitance, and high common mode transient immunity (CMTI) — essential in electromagnetically noisy environments.

Tested across 1,000 temperature cycles from -40°C to 125°C, the device has proven long-term durability under extreme thermal conditions. The ultra-low leakage current and minimal isolation capacitance make the NXJ1T particularly well-suited for medical applications where safety standards such as IEC 60601-1 must be met for patient-connected systems.

Additional safety features include under-voltage lockout (UVLO) to prevent instability during voltage drops. Its standard pinout and SMD form factor allow easy integration into CAN Bus systems for EV chargers, industrial control units, and high-voltage medical devices like X-ray or laser systems.

“With rising voltages in modern systems, engineers need dependable isolation components that perform under pressure,” said Ann-Marie Bayliss, Product Manager at Murata. “The NXJ1T series delivers reliable power delivery, ultra-low leakage, and enhanced safety — helping engineers build smarter, safer systems.”
