December 24, 2024 /SemiMedia/ — Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has announced that its subsidiary, Murata Electronics North America, Inc., has entered into an agreement to acquire Sensoride Corporation. Founded in 2021, Sensoride is known for its development of high-resolution radar technology, primarily focused on automotive applications, robotics, and drones.

This strategic acquisition marks a significant step for Murata in enhancing its radar capabilities and advancing the development of innovative radar solutions. Sensoride’s radar technologies, which are capable of providing detailed environmental sensing, will complement Murata’s existing product offerings and enable the company to accelerate the expansion of its radar solutions for next-generation autonomous driving systems, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), and robotics applications.

Murata aims to leverage Sensoride’s expertise in radar systems to further improve the performance, accuracy, and reliability of its radar products. The integration of Sensoride's high-performance radar sensors will help Murata meet the increasing demand for cutting-edge technologies in industries such as automotive, robotics, and aerial drones, where precise environmental perception is crucial.

By strengthening its radar capabilities, Murata plans to provide customers with enhanced solutions that support the growing need for safety, automation, and efficiency in critical systems.

The acquisition is expected to close in the coming months, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.
