Recently, ON Semiconductor announces the acquisition of SensL Technologies Ltd.

Headquartered in Ireland, SensL is a technology leader providing silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs), single photon avalanche diodes (SPADs), and Lidar (LiDAR) sensing products for the automotive, medical, industrial and consumer markets. This acquisition has enabled ON Semiconductor to expand its market leadership in advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autopilot automotive sensing applications, expanding its capabilities in imaging, radar, and Optima.

Combined with this acquisition and the acquisition of radar technology and design centers in Israel and the United Kingdom, ON Semiconductor has the unique advantage of providing comprehensive sensor solutions for the next generation of highly automated vehicles, as well as consolidating the company’s leading position on image sensing and ultrasonic parking assistance system.

Daner Ozcelik, senior vice president and general manager of ON Semiconductor's image sensor division, said: “The entire SensL team founded by Carl Jackson and led by Bryan Campbell has done a great job of pushing SiPM into the market and we look forward to expanding their market success. Automotive Sensor Fusion The demand is accelerating, demanding more sensor technology from the SensL team, and expanding our sensor technology assets and design capabilities in Ireland will allow us to expand our leadership in existing market segments and provide new market segments with new solution."

The SensL team will report directly to ON Semiconductor’s Image Sensors division. In addition, ON Semiconductor's broad product portfolio and application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) strengths complement SensL's sensors to provide a more complete and optimized solution for a wide range of customers in the automotive, medical, industrial and consumer markets.
