Goodbye to SII

In 1881, Kintaro Hattori open a watch-shop in Tokyo for selling imported watch, this small shop then changed the name to SEIKO in 1892. In 1924, Seiko released the first branded watch which designed and produced by itself. The growth of this watch producer looks smooth, but they announced to access the semiconductor field in 1937 and built the factory which is now Seiko Instruments Group(SII Semiconductor Corporation), mainly supply battery protection IC, automotive and power IC, sensor, regulator..etc. In September 2015, the IC division of Seiko Instruments independence from the Group, the name been changed to SII and they accepted capital investment from DBJ(Development Bank of Japan), the share structure was SII 60% and DBJ 40%.

In August of 2017, SII announced to sell 30% shares to DBJ, the share transfers will be done in January of 2018 and they decide to change the company name from SII to ABLIC Inc from this month, we need to say goodbye to SII. It is said that, ABLIC will take more effort on analog products, besides, they are doing something on wireless charging, which is quite a hot thing brings by the Iphone 8 and Iphone X, no doubt for it, this market will be hot in 2018, let's see what ABLIC can do.
