Murata to raise EMI component prices on rising silver costs

March 20, 2026

March 20, 2026 /SemiMedia/ — Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. plans to raise prices for a range of EMI components starting April 1, 2026, citing rising raw material costs, according to a customer notice.

The increase will cover products such as multilayer chip ferrite beads, ferrite power inductors, RF inductors and common mode choke coils, which are widely used in power and signal filtering across semiconductor and electronics systems.

Murata said the move is mainly driven by higher silver prices. The metal is widely used in electronic components, and demand has been rising across sectors including electric vehicles, semiconductors and AI-related equipment.

Supply has remained tight as silver production is often linked to the mining of other metals, limiting the ability to quickly increase output. Demand has continued to outpace supply since 2021, adding to cost pressure.

The company said recent increases have gone beyond what it can offset through internal cost controls, leading to the price adjustment to maintain stable production and supply.

Industry sources say higher material costs are gradually being passed along the supply chain, which could affect pricing for downstream electronics and semiconductor systems.
