Intel plans to reopen its Costa Rica factory

March 2, 2020

According to information released by Intel's Costa Rica recruitment platform, the company may restart the Costa Rica factory that closed in 2014.

In 2014, Intel closed its test and manufacturing facilities in Costa Rica and relocated to China, Malaysia, and Vietnam. However, in recent years, as Intel processors have been in short supply, Intel has been trying to solve this problem.

Sources said that Intel is conducting phased platform testing and operational flow testing of the Costa Rica factory. The first phase will begin in mid-April and the second phase is expected to begin in August.

It is believed that with the re-commissioning of the Intel Costa Rica factory, the output of 14nm processors will increase and the shortage will be alleviated.
