On June 11th, a report released by market research agency Sigmaintell showed that due to the low demand of global terminals and the impact of early inventory, fingerprint chip plants are placing orders conservatively. It is estimated that in 2018, the global shipment of fingerprint chips will be about 970 million, which is a decrease of about 11% compared with the same period of last year. %. Data show that in the first quarter of 2018, the global shipment of fingerprint chips was about 200 million, a decrease of about 26% year-on-year.

With the increase in the proportion of smartphone screens, structured light and fingerprints under the screen have become the two directions of biometric identification. The report pointed out that the maturity of the fingerprint supply chain under the optical screen is relatively high, and suppliers have a good mass production basis. It is expected that the supply of fingerprint identification chips under the global optical screen will be about 20 million in 2018, and the design companies such as Synopsys and Goodix, as well as O-film and other module companies will directly benefit.
