Asus sees PC prices rising 25%–30% as chip costs increase

March 26, 2026 /SemiMedia/ — Asus said rising costs for key semiconductor components are set to push up PC prices, as higher prices for memory, storage and processors feed into system costs.

Liao Yi-hsiang, a senior executive at Asus, said the current price trend is not driven by a single component, but by a broad increase across memory, SSDs and CPUs. Memory and storage prices have been moving higher, while processors are also facing supply tightness.

He said PC prices are expected to rise by around 25% to 30% in the second quarter, with further increases likely in the third quarter. The price moves are not limited to one brand, but reflect higher costs across the industry.

As major PC makers source similar memory and storage components, their cost bases are close, making price increases more widespread across brands.

The expected price increases are also changing buying behavior. Since late last year, when the market started to signal higher prices, some customers have brought forward purchases. Demand in the first quarter was stronger than usual, while distributors have also been building inventory in advance, expecting further cost increases.
