Jan. 20, 2023 /SemiMedia/ -- According to the latest report released by Susquehanna Financial Group, the lead time of chips in December 2022 has been shortened by 8 days, the largest monthly decline since 2017. The report believes that the worst situation for chip supply has passed.

The average chip lead time in December last year was about 24 weeks, which was 3 weeks shorter than the peak in May last year, but it was still much higher than the 10 to 15 weeks before the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Lead times are now much better than cycle peaks and the worst of the supply shock is behind us. Delivery wait times across all product categories have shrunk in December,” said Susquehanna analyst Chris Rolland.

The report also pointed out that Infineon's lead time was shortened by 23 days, TI by four weeks and Microchip by 24 days. Chris Rolland has said that lead times for all key product categories are shortening, with power management and analog chips seeing the largest declines in wait times for delivery.
