May 15, 2026 /SemiMedia/ — Vishay Intertechnology has released four series of 3000 W surface-mount TVS diodes for automotive and industrial protection applications. The new devices use the DFN6546A package with wettable flanks and include the automotive-grade T3KNxxA and T3KNxxCA series, along with the industrial-focused 3KDFNxxA and 3KDFNxxCA series.
The automotive versions are AEC-Q101 qualified and support operating temperatures up to +185 °C. Target applications include ADAS, lidar, camera modules, battery management systems, onboard chargers, traction inverters, electric power steering and DC/DC converters.
The industrial-grade series is designed for robot control boards, automation equipment, energy storage systems, server power modules, telecom hardware and medical equipment.
According to Vishay, the DFN6546A package measures 6.5 mm × 4.6 mm with a typical height of 0.88 mm, helping reduce PCB space usage in compact designs. Compared with SMC package devices, the new parts deliver the same power dissipation while cutting package volume by about 76%. Compared with SMPC devices, they provide twice the power dissipation with a lower profile.
The TVS diodes are designed to protect sensitive electronics from voltage spikes caused by inductive load switching and lightning events. Vishay also improved internal die placement and copper structure to support larger chip sizes and better thermal performance.
For electrical protection, the unidirectional versions provide clamping voltages from 16.7 V to 33.2 V, while bidirectional versions support up to 137 V. The wettable flank structure allows automatic optical inspection during manufacturing, reducing the need for X-ray inspection.
The devices are RoHS compliant, halogen-free and rated MSL 1. Vishay said samples and production quantities are available now with lead times of about 12 weeks.
