Mouser Electronics announced that it has begun stocking Maxim Integrated's MAX5995B power management IC (PMIC). This compact PMIC provides the complete interface required for powered devices (PDs) and is compliant with the IEEE 802.3af/at/bt standard for Power over Ethernet (PoE) systems.

The MAX5995B provides the PD with signature detection, hierarchical signatures, and an integrated isolated power switch with start-up inrush current control. The IC supports the multi-event grading method specified by the IEEE 802.3bt standard and provides a signal to indicate the detection of Class 1 to 4 Power Supply Equipment (PSE). The MAX5995B PMIC also provides power good (PG) signals, 2-level current limit, foldback control, and thermal protection.

The device features Intelligent Maintain Power Signature (MPS), ultra-low-power sleep mode, bandwidth under-voltage input undervoltage lockout, and long-cycle interference pulse masking to compensate for resistive attenuation of twisted-pair cables, ensuring no power-up/down periods Interference transmission.

The MAX5995B PMIC is available in a 16-pin 5 mm × 5 mm TQFN package and operates over the -40°C to +85°C temperature range for VOIP phones, IP security surveillance cameras, wireless access points, small cells and pico base stations, lighting, and building automation.
