April 1, 2026 /SemiMedia/ — Apple said it will invest an additional $400 million with suppliers including Bosch, Cirrus Logic, TDK and Qnity Electronics to expand production of key components and semiconductor-related materials in the United States.

The move is part of the company’s broader $600 billion U.S. manufacturing and innovation plan, which focuses on building out domestic supply chains across chips and advanced electronics.

Under the latest round of partnerships, TDK is expected to begin producing sensor components in the United States for the first time, including parts used in smartphone camera systems. Bosch will support production of chips used in functions such as motion tracking and crash detection, working with foundry partners.

Cirrus Logic, together with GlobalFoundries, will develop mixed-signal semiconductors at a fab in New York, supporting applications such as biometric sensing. At the manufacturing level, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.’s Arizona facility and GlobalFoundries fabs will handle part of the wafer production.

Other suppliers, including Qnity Electronics, will focus on materials and process technologies linked to semiconductor manufacturing, extending the supply chain further upstream.

Apple said the effort is aimed at strengthening U.S. capabilities in semiconductor and electronics manufacturing, while also supporting job creation. The company currently supports more than 450,000 jobs across all 50 states and plans to expand hiring in areas such as R&D and chip engineering.

Since launching the initiative, Apple has been ramping up local sourcing. It expects to purchase more than 100 million chips from TSMC’s Arizona plant in 2026.

The company is also expanding its manufacturing footprint in Texas, where a Houston facility has already started producing AI servers, with additional lines planned as part of a broader expansion.

Suppliers including Amkor, GlobalWafers and Corning have also set up or expanded operations in the United States to support packaging, silicon wafer supply and specialty materials.
