March 12, 2026 /SemiMedia/ — Kyocera Corp said it has started mass production of its new “X Series” differential clock crystal oscillators, designed to support high-speed data systems such as AI servers and network equipment.
The new oscillators deliver phase jitter of about 30 femtoseconds, a level the company says is among the lowest in the industry. Low jitter clocks are increasingly important for data centers, where timing errors can lead to signal instability and bit errors in high-speed links.
Differential clock oscillators generate two signals rather than a single output. By comparing the difference between the two signals at the receiving end, the design helps suppress noise and improves signal integrity in high-speed and long-distance communication.
Kyocera began volume production of the X Series in January with initial output of about 200,000 units per month. As demand from generative AI systems and data center infrastructure grows, the company plans to expand capacity to around 2 million units per month starting in June.
The company said the new series combines high-quality crystal elements with oscillator ICs and its own semiconductor lithography and plasma CVM processing technologies. Compared with conventional oscillators at the same frequency, phase jitter is reduced by roughly 25%.
Kyocera also improved the oscillator IC design to lower power consumption. In a 156.25 MHz LV-PECL configuration, the device draws about 29 mA, down from roughly 50 mA for typical existing products.
The oscillators are aimed at applications including AI servers, optical transceivers, storage systems and automotive ADAS equipment.
