March 12, 2026 /SemiMedia/ — Infineon Technologies said its share of the global microcontroller (MCU) market rose to 23.2% in 2025, strengthening its position as the world’s largest MCU supplier.
The overall MCU market declined slightly by about 0.3% last year as demand patterns shifted and inventories across parts of the electronics supply chain were adjusted. Despite the softer market, Infineon increased its share from 21.4% in 2024.
MCUs are widely used as control units in embedded systems, including automotive electronics, industrial equipment and smart home devices. Demand has remained steady in areas that require high reliability and safety, particularly in automotive and industrial systems.
Infineon said its strong presence in automotive electronics and industrial control helped support shipments during the market slowdown. The company’s MCUs are widely used in applications such as advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), power management and industrial IoT equipment.
The company has also expanded its automotive semiconductor portfolio. In August 2025, Infineon completed the acquisition of the automotive Ethernet business of Marvell Technology. The deal added in-vehicle networking technology that can work together with Infineon’s AURIX, PSOC and TRAVEO automotive MCU families.
The combination is aimed at supporting software-defined vehicle architectures and future autonomous driving systems, where computing, connectivity and safety functions are increasingly integrated.
