Omron issues price hike notice as automation and core components face cost pressure

February 9, 2026 /SemiMedia/ — Omron has implemented a new round of price increases across its automation product portfolio, covering PLCs, industrial robots, sensors and relays, with adjustments ranging from 5% to as much as 50%. Orders confirmed from Feb. 7 are being processed under the updated pricing system.

Robotics products saw the sharpest increases, with parallel robots rising by 25% to 50%. Sensors and relays posted moderate gains, while temperature sensing components recorded smaller hikes of around 5% to 10%, according to industry sources.

Omron said the move reflects ongoing pressure from the global supply chain. Elevated prices for copper and aluminum, along with persistently high memory chip costs, have continued to push up manufacturing expenses. While the company has taken steps to streamline procurement and improve production efficiency, these measures have only partially offset the impact.

The adjustment aligns with Omron’s earlier earnings comments, which highlighted margin pressure driven by higher material costs. Analysts note that industrial automation equipment relies heavily on MCUs, memory devices, power management chips and sensing components, allowing semiconductor price movements to flow quickly into system-level products.
