AI and data centres drive global semiconductor demand
The industry group said demand increased across all major product categories during the month, underlining continued strength in applications tied to artificial intelligence, data centres and high-performance computing.
By region, sales in Asia Pacific and other markets rose 66.1% year-on-year, remaining the main driver of global growth. Sales in the Americas increased 23.0%, while China and Europe posted gains of 22.9% and 11.1%, respectively. Japan was the only major market to record a year-on-year decline, with sales falling 8.9%.
On a month-on-month basis, Asia Pacific and other regions saw sales rise 5.0%, followed by China at 3.9% and the Americas at 3.0%. European sales edged up 1.2%, while Japan slipped slightly by 0.1%.
SIA said the global chip market is expected to maintain solid momentum into 2026, supported by continued investment in AI infrastructure and broader demand across automotive and industrial segments.
