January 14, 2026 /SemiMedia/ — Diodes Incorporated has expanded its power management portfolio with the launch of the AP61040 and AP61041, two low-current synchronous buck converters aimed at wearable electronics and other battery-powered semiconductor applications where standby power consumption is critical.

The new devices are designed around an ultra-low quiescent current architecture, drawing as little as 930nA in standby mode. This allows system designers to maintain high efficiency under light-load conditions, a key requirement for smart watches, fitness trackers and portable health monitoring equipment that spend extended periods in sleep or idle states.

Both converters support an input voltage range of 2.15V to 5.5V and deliver up to 400mA of output current, making them suitable for single-cell lithium battery designs and low-voltage rails in compact systems. A constant on-time control scheme enables stable operation across wide input-to-output voltage ratios, while ensuring fast line and load transient response with minimal external components.

Diodes said the AP61040 offers three preset output voltage options selectable via a single VSEL pin, while the AP61041 features dual VSEL pins that allow programmable output voltages from 0.6V to 3.3V. Both devices are optimized for use with a 2.2µH inductor and 10µF input and output capacitors, helping reduce board area in space-constrained designs.

To support reliable operation in portable consumer electronics, the converters integrate undervoltage lockout, overcurrent protection and thermal shutdown. They are packaged in a 1.17mm by 0.77mm, six-ball wafer-level package, reflecting growing demand for highly integrated power management ICs in next-generation wearable and IoT hardware.
