October 28, 2025 /SemiMedia/ — Silicon Labs announced the general availability of the first products in its new Series 3 platform, the SiMG301 and SiBG301 SoCs, at the Works With Summit in Austin, Texas. The devices are now shipping globally through Silicon Labs and authorized distribution partners.

The Series 3 platform builds on Silicon Labs' leadership at the intelligent edge, delivering improvements in compute, connectivity, integration, and security, while remaining compatible with the proven Series 2 ecosystem. Developers can continue to use Series 2 for ultra-low-power endpoints and adopt Series 3 for more demanding, feature-rich designs without changing tools or support models.

The SiMG301 supports concurrent Zigbee, Bluetooth LE, and Matter over Thread protocols, suitable for smart lighting and Matter-compliant controllers. The SiBG301 is optimized for Bluetooth LE applications, providing Series 3 compute and security capabilities with an easy migration path from Series 2 designs. Both devices feature up to 4 MB Flash and 512 kB RAM, as well as the PIXELRZ single-wire interface and integrated LED pre-driver, simplifying design, reducing cost, and improving energy efficiency for smart home and smart building lighting applications.

Series 3 introduces significant security enhancements, achieving the world's first PSA Level 4 certification, recognized for resilience against laser fault injection, side-channel attacks, micro-probing, and voltage manipulation. The Series 3 Secure Vault continues the Series 2 security legacy with a hardened root of trust, lifecycle controls, and secure OTA update support, helping developers comply with emerging regulations including the EU RED/CRA and U.S. Cyber Trust Mark.

The SiMG301 is among the first devices in the Connectivity Standards Alliance's Matter Compliant Platform Certification program. Certified platforms allow device makers to inherit pre-tested core functionality, reducing testing requirements and speeding development cycles. Series 2 MG24 and MG26 SoCs are also included in the certification program.

Ross Sabolcik, Senior Vice President of IoT Products at Silicon Labs, said, “Series 3 SoCs combine PSA Level 4 security with Matter-certified capabilities, providing customers a strong foundation for long-lived, secure IoT devices and accelerating time to market for smart home products.”
