April 20, 2026 /SemiMedia/ — KYOCERA AVX has introduced a new series of DC filtering film capacitors aimed at electric vehicle traction systems and industrial motor drives, as demand grows for more robust power electronics components.

The FFLK series is designed for use in high-power environments where heat, vibration and electrical stress are common. Such conditions are typical in EV traction inverters and industrial control systems, where stable DC filtering is critical for system performance.

The new capacitors are built to handle higher current levels while keeping size relatively compact. Compared with standard commercial-grade products, they offer improved durability and longer service life, while also targeting lower overall system cost.

The series uses cylindrical aluminum cases and metallized polypropylene film. One key feature is its controlled self-healing design, which helps prevent failures by isolating local breakdowns inside the dielectric, allowing the capacitor to continue operating.

In terms of specifications, the product line covers a wide voltage and capacitance range. Dry versions are rated from 900V to 1900VDC, while wet versions reach up to 3800VDC. Capacitance ranges from 25µF to over 3000µF, supporting different power system needs.

The capacitors meet major industry standards and are rated for long operating life under defined conditions. They can run in temperatures from -40°C to 95°C, making them suitable for long-term use in demanding environments.
