March 17, 2025 /SemiMedia/ — Silicon Labs has announced that it has been awarded a $23 million grant from the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund (TSIF), established under the Texas CHIPS Act. This investment will support the construction of a new research and development (R&D) laboratory in Austin, helping to drive technological innovation, create local jobs, and reinforce Silicon Labs’ leadership in the Texas semiconductor industry.

“As a Texas-born company and a global leader in IoT wireless technology, Silicon Labs is committed to fostering innovation, driving economic growth, and developing a skilled workforce in the state,” said Silicon Labs President and CEO Matt Johnson. “The Texas CHIPS Act funding will empower us to accelerate wireless chip design, develop groundbreaking technologies, and further solidify Texas’ leadership in the semiconductor industry.”

This investment will enable Silicon Labs to advance its innovation roadmap, particularly in the development of its Series 3 wireless platform. This cutting-edge technology will make devices smarter and more connected, enhancing IoT and smart device capabilities. Additionally, the initiative will strengthen Texas’ position as a global leader in semiconductor design and reinforce its role at the forefront of the industry.

“We are honored to receive this support from the Texas government and to have the opportunity to amplify innovation and progress in our home state,” Johnson added. “Silicon Labs is proud to collaborate with the State of Texas and other business leaders to create new opportunities and jobs for the Texas community.”
