September 12, 2024 /SemiMedia/ — Nexperia has announced the launch of single and dual small-signal MOSFETs in miniature DFN packages, with the automotive-qualified devices now available in DFN1110D-3 (1.1mm x 1mm) and DFN1412-6 configurations. The DFN1110D-3 package, in particular, is gaining traction and is poised to become a leading industry standard for small-signal MOSFETs and bipolar transistors in automotive applications.

Both the DFN1110D-3 and DFN1412-6 are leadless packages that provide excellent thermal performance, with up to 50% lower thermal resistance from junction to ambient (Rthj-a) compared to traditional packages, all within a significantly smaller footprint (up to 80% reduction). These packages are becoming attractive alternatives to established leaded options such as SOT23, SOT323, SOT363, and SOT666, catering to the automotive industry's ongoing demand for component miniaturization. The DFN1110D-3 also includes side-wettable flanks, which facilitate cost-effective automated optical inspection (AOI) of solder joints, enhancing overall reliability.

Nexperia's extensive portfolio includes over 100 products in the DFN1110D-3 package and 43 in the DFN1412-6 package, making it the industry leader in offering devices in these compact formats. With this launch, Nexperia becomes the only supplier offering single and dual small-signal MOSFETs in both DFN1110D-3 and DFN1412-6 packages.

These new MOSFETs are also part of Nexperia's Q-portfolio, which is designed to deliver high-quality products that not only comply with established automotive standards like AEC-Q101 but also ensure readiness for future requirements. The Q-portfolio emphasizes extended service support and guarantees product longevity of over 10 years.
