X-FAB announces expansion of SiC in the United States

May. 23, 2023 /SemiMedia/ -- Wafer foundry X-Fab recently announced that it plans to expand its foundry business in Lubbock, Texas, USA.

X-Fab has been operating in Lubbock for more than 20 years and will make major investments in the next 5 years, of which the first phase of investment is $200 million to increase the production of silicon carbide semiconductors at the fab. This expansion will create another 250 jobs in Lubbock. According to market demand, more investment projects will be launched in the future.

"As a leading SiC foundry, we must continue to invest in increasing our capacity, capability and technical workforce to deliver high-quality products and be ready for next-generation products. X-FAB is committed to remaining in the SiC space foundry leadership," said Lloyd Whetzel, President and CEO of X-FAB Texas.
