May. 23, 2023 /SemiMedia/ -- Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of India's Electronics and Information Technology Union, said recently that if the ecosystem is in place, India will become the world's largest semiconductor manufacturing location in the next 4-5 years. India's current focus is on ensuring the right ecosystem is built.

Vaishnaw emphasized that the government will work on building the necessary ecosystem to support it. At the same time, he pointed out that the production cost in India will be the most competitive in the world.

Describing semiconductor manufacturing as a complex process, Vaishnaw highlighted the need for specialty chemicals, gases, reliable power and ultrapure water. Even brief voltage fluctuations can disrupt production throughout the day, he said.

Faced with these challenges, Vaishnaw assured that the government is committed to addressing them to boost the semiconductor manufacturing industry in India.
