According to report, a sudden cold wave caused widespread power outages in Texas, causing the shutdown of semiconductor factories such as Samsung Electronics, NXP and Infineon in Texas.

The report pointed out that the power supply of Samsung Electronics' semiconductor factory in Austin, Texas, USA was interrupted, resulting in the suspension of factory production.

Samsung spokesperson Michele Glaze said that after Austin Energy informed the Samsung plant to cut off power and stop production, it has gradually suspended all production lines and has taken safety measures to prevent damage to equipment and wafers in production. Once the power supply is restored, production will resume, but it is still unknown when work will resume.

The report also pointed out that NXP said it has suspended production at two factories in Austin, Texas. The company said in a statement that power suppliers in the Austin area are currently giving priority to serving residential areas, and they are also informing affected customers about possible supply disruptions.
