In response to yesterday’s media reports that Renesas Electronics will temporarily shut down the factory, Renesas Electronics officially issued a statement today saying that it is indeed considering adopting corresponding control measures to suspend production in the short term according to future demand.

According to Renesas’ official statement, specific measures to suspend production include options to suspend the front-end factories for up to two months and the back-end facilities for several times over a period of a week. Any specific shutdown period would be decided taking demand trends and customers’ delivery status into consideration.

Renesas Electronics has posted the statement on its official website, please refer to the official statement for details: https://www.renesas.com/us/en/about/press-center/notices/2019/notice20190307.html
