STMicroelectronics has introduced the STM32MP1 multi-core microprocessor family. With a combination of computing and graphics capabilities, this family of processors combines energy-efficient real-time control with high-performance integration to simplify the development of high-performance solutions for industrial manufacturing, consumer electronics, smart home, and medical applications.

The STM32MP1 family of microprocessors integrates two 650MHz Arm Cortex-A7 application processor cores and a high performance Arm Cortex-M4 microcontroller core running at 209MHz. To prevent performance bottlenecks and bandwidth issues in the MPU system, the STM32MP1 supports affordable DDR SDRAM memory, including DDR3, DDR3L, LPDDR2, 533MHz 32/16-bit LPDDR3. In addition, the STM32MP1 supports a variety of flash memory products such as eMMC, SD card, SLC NAND, SPI NAND and Quad-SPI NOR flash.

The STM32MP1 embeds a 3D graphics processor (GPU) to support human machine interface (HMI) displays; external memory supports a variety of DDR SDRAM and flash memory. In addition, the STM32MP1 embeds a large number of peripherals that can be seamlessly assigned to Cortex-A / Linux or Cortex-M / real-time operations. The STM32MP1 family is available in a variety of BGA packages to support the lowest cost PCB board architecture with minimal board space.

The STM32MP1 product is now in mass production. The new product will be distributed to dealers in March. For more information, please contact your local STMicroelectronics distributor or visit www.st.com/stm32mp1

Two evaluation boards (STM32MP157A-EV1 and STM32MP157C-EV1) and two exploration kits (STM32MP157A-DK1 and STM32MP157C-DK2) will be available to distribution channels in April.
