AVX has released a new line of miniature surface mount J-lead tantalum capacitors, the F9H series, which provides high reliability and high capacity efficiency for high temperature automotive and industrial applications. This series of tantalum capacitors meets AEC-Q200 requirements, complies with RoHS2 Directive 2011/65 / EU, rated operating temperature up to 150°C, and offers the industry's highest CV/cc in high temperature 1206 tantalum capacitors. It also offers higher reliability than standard automotive grade capacitors with a failure rate of only 0.5% after 1000 hours at 105°C and a rated voltage of 0.1Ω/V series impedance and 60% confidence level.

The F9H series is currently available in four ratings: 1206 10μF/16V, 1206 15μF/10V, 1210 22μF/16V and 2312 47μF/16V. It has a traditional MnO2 cathode, which is characterized by low leakage current, capacitance loss does not occur when an applied voltage (voltage coefficient) or capacitance loss changes with time, and is very suitable for use in secondary power lines for automotive electronics applications, including: Transmission control unit, integrated starter generator, headlamps and brakes, and industrial applications.

Allen Mayar, AVX's product marketing manager, said: "Our new F9H series J-lead tantalum capacitors offer the highest available capacitance for high-profile automotive applications in miniature case sizes, and offer twice the reliability performance of the standard AEC-Q200 compatible tantalum capacitor series.”

The lead time for this series is currently 8-10 weeks. For purchases, please contact Arrow Electronics, Digi-Key Electronics or Mouser Electronics.
