Nordic Semiconductor announced that the nRF52 series of low-power Bluetooth system-on-chip (SoC) has been certified by Alibaba's AliOS Things, and has received the Alibaba IoT Eco Partner Program certification. The program was established in 2018 by AliCloud IoT to promote and develop a stronger, more mature global IoT ecosystem.

The prerequisite for obtaining AliCloud's IoT Eco Partner Program certificate is that it must support the AliOS Things operating system and obtain the AliOS Things certification. According to reports, a total of 23 semiconductor and module suppliers have obtained certificates, which account for half of the global IoT chip market.

AliCloud IoT's Director of the Internet of Things Ecosystem said: “Alibaba announced in 2017 that IoT will become the group's fifth main track. We will continue to invest in this market. We are very pleased that Nordic Semiconductor has joined as a partner, this is a respected company that not only provides high quality products, but also provides strong support to end customers. We hope to have more cooperation with Nordic Semiconductor in the future."

Wendell Boyd, Director of Sales and Marketing, Nordic Semiconductor Asia Pacific, said: "We are very pleased to receive the Alibaba IoT Eco Partner Program certification. We believe this is an important step for Alibaba and its customers to promote strong and robust IoT. Developers are looking for the easiest solution to ensure their products are compatible with IoT, and Nordic offers proven alternatives by working with global leaders like Alibaba Cloud IoT."
